What a way to wrap up another fantastic Alice Springs Show week.

Following the outstanding Combined Agents Show Sale, the rest of the weekend continued to showcase everything that makes the Central Australian pastoral community so special – quality cattle, passionate volunteers, strong community spirit and plenty of opportunities to catch up with familiar faces.

The NTCA was pleased to once again have our stand alongside the Govies Muster crew and neighbouring the Centralian Beef Breeders Association (CBBA) shed. Friday turned on perfect winter weather, with blue skies and sunshine bringing plenty of people through the grounds.

One of the highlights of the day was our Cows for Schools competition. We welcomed an incredible number of entries from showgoers voting for their favourite cow – so many, in fact, that we completely ran out of voting slips for the first time ever! A huge thank you to everyone who took part and congratulations to the competing schools, this years cows were VERY impressive! 

With rain forecast to arrive, our esteemed judge, Kate Everett from Zoetis, kindly completed the judging on Friday afternoon before the weather set in. Thank you, Kate, for volunteering your time and expertise.

Friday evening saw another successful Govies Muster, which once again delivered a fantastic atmosphere and brought the industry together. Congratulations to the organising committee and everyone involved in making it happen. It’s become one of the highlights of the calendar and another reminder of the strength of our community.

The rain arrived on Friday night and continued throughout Saturday, but it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. The annual bull sale was another success, with buyers and vendors embracing the wet conditions and ensuring the show continued as planned.

Saturday evening wrapped up the weekend with another standout event – the CBBA Dinner. Congratulations to the Centralian Beef Breeders Association on delivering another outstanding evening and, indeed, a fantastic show weekend overall.

While the dinner is always a highlight, it’s only one part of an enormous effort. From coordinating cattle classes and competitions to managing the countless details that keep the cattle section running smoothly, an incredible amount of work goes on behind the scenes. The dedication of the volunteers, exhibitors and committee members who give their time year after year is something truly special and is a testament to the strength of the Central Australian community.

Thank you to everyone who visited the NTCA stand, supported our activities and helped make another Alice Springs Show such a memorable event. 

Here’s to another successful Alice Springs Show, one that once again celebrated the people, livestock and community that make the Northern Territory cattle industry something to be proud of.
