Rural and Regional Health – a key focus for NTCA Conference

The biggest event of its kind in the Northern Territory is putting the health of its members and all attendees at the top of the agenda with free and potential life-changing advice available during the event.

The Northern Territory Cattleman’s Association’s (NTCA) Annual Industry Conference this year is featuring an impressive showcase of health services, to ensure as many people as possible can check their health status.

NTCA CEO Romy Carey said the NTCA 2026 Health Hub will be of particular value to delegates travelling in from regional and remote areas who may not always have easy access to health services.

“We have spoken with some attendees who have attended in previous years and undertaken a health check only to discover an issue that needed medical attention, and that’s potentially been a life saver.

“Of course, the vast majority of people who visit the Health Hub at the NTCA Conference are medically fit, but this provides a simple strategy for people to receive a free check-up.”

In 2026, the following services will be available at the Health Hub:

BreastScreen NT – Providing free screening mammograms to support early detection of breast cancer, with inclusive, person-centred care.

Healthy Living NT – Supporting Territorians living with diabetes and chronic conditions through education, advocacy and practical resources.

Heart of Australia – Offering free Exercise Physiology assessments, including simple tests to check strength, balance and movement, plus wellbeing advice for physically demanding work.

Heart Foundation – Australia’s trusted peak body working to prevent heart disease and improve heart health outcomes nationwide.

Prosper NT – A community-run prostate cancer support group providing connection, resources and support for men and families in the Top End.

Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) – Delivering essential aeromedical retrieval and primary healthcare services across remote NT communities, supporting thousands of patients each year.

The conference doesn’t just offer health-related appointments, it has also organised its own healthy activity with the inaugural NTCA Pre-Conference Walk, hosted by the Heart Foundation, which will take place at 7am on Friday 20 March 2026 from outside the Darwin Convention Centre.
