Tourism and Events NT is continuing planning for the 22 July 2028 Total Solar Eclipse, a rare event expected to attract significant national and international visitation to the Northern Territory. While the primary event focus will be in the Barkly region, the path of totality will also cross a number of pastoral areas, creating potential opportunities for stations and landholders to be involved.

To support industry participation, Tourism and Events NT has developed a four-stage commercial approach, incorporating a Registration of Interest (ROI) process followed by future Expressions of Interest (EOIs), to guide commercial partnerships and eclipse-related opportunities in a transparent and coordinated manner.

Cattle stations and pastoral businesses are encouraged to consider how they may wish to participate. Opportunities could include hosting small group viewing experiences, providing access to suitable land for tour operators, developing bespoke outback experiences, partnering with tourism businesses, or exploring other innovative ideas that showcase the Territory’s unique landscapes and pastoral heritage.

Station owners, managers and landholders interested in exploring opportunities are encouraged to register their interest to receive updates on eclipse planning, commercial opportunities, potential partnerships, business support and future EOI processes. All ideas are welcome, and early engagement will help Tourism and Events NT understand industry interest and facilitate connections between stakeholders with aligned objectives.
